In the morning everyone headed to the Buckwheat Ski Classic, a unique ski race held in the mountains near White Pass Summit, one of the routes used during the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush. The race started in the Chilkoot Trail National Historic Site Of Canada and followed a course on the Buckwheat Ski Trails near Log Cabin.

Kids, chaperones and parents from Chelsea and Whitehorse participated in the 25 kilometer, 10 kilometer and 5 kilometer races. It was a spectacular day with fantastic views of the surrounding mountains.

The start of 5 kilometer race was very exciting and included a small pile up just after the race started.

The Finish Line!

Having fun, goofing around and just relaxing in the sun!

After the race we drove to Skagway for the banquet, awards ceremony and a sleep over at the school. We even managed to squeeze in two walks. Before dinner we walked to the ferry terminal for a view of the ocean. After dinner we toured downtown Skagway to view some of the historical buildings and stopped for a group photo at a vintage train equiped with a snowblower on the front.
